News on the Royal Rumble; latest on Evan Bourne’s WWE future

26 Jan

It’s been reported that the WWE Creative Team has reportedly nixed a match involving Beth Phoenix versus Alicia Fox for the Divas Championship due to the fact that Layla won’t be healed in time for the Royal Rumble. Another match, a potential Cody Rhodes versus Goldust match was scrapped as well. Unlike several past WWE PPVs, WWE is not expected to add any additional matches due to the matches being longer than usual. It’s also been reported that the Rock will be making an appearance at the Royal Rumble PPV.

There has also been some speculation that the WWE Championship match between CM Punk versus Dolph Ziggler will main event the Royal Rumble PPV rather than the 30-man Royal Rumble match because of the unpredictable nature of this match. The last time the Rumble match did not main event the Royal Rumble PPV was in 2006.

Following his second suspension for violating the Wellness Policy, it appears that Evan Bourne’s days in the WWE may be numbered. He and Kofi Kingston lost the WWE Tag Team titles to the team of Primo and Epico at a WWE house show in Oakland, California earlier this month.
