Update on the Money in the Bank card

28 Jun

The 2012 Money in the Bank PPV may only feature four matches, but in typical WWE fashion but expect at least two bonus matches to be taking place.

One rumored match is Brodus Clay facing possibly either Jack Swagger or David Otunga. WWE officials are very high on Clay’s “Funkasaurus” gimmick and wants him to be featured on a regular basis.

Another likely match is Ryback taking on Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks in a 2-on-1 handicap match. Also, it is expected that a past WWE Superstar will be making an appearance to perhaps face Heath Slater.

No Divas match is expected to take place at the Money in the Bank PPV. Instead, the Divas will be relegated to appearing in backstage segments. A Divas Championship match is expected to take place on Monday Night RAW on Monday, July 16.

Update on the WWE No Way Out card

9 Jun

So far, only four matches are on the card at the No Way Out PPV on Sunday, June 17 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey:

John Cena vs. Big Show in a steel cage match

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship

Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship

Christian vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship

There is talk of an six-man tag team match between Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, & R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, & Tensai for the No Way Out PPV but nothing has been decided yet.

There is also rumors that a Divas match (possibly Layla versus Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship) will be the preshow match that will be seen on wwe.com preceding the No Way Out PPV as well.

Update on WWE Over the Limit card

18 May

For those of you wondering if there will be any more matches to be added to the WWE Over the Limit PPV, it seems that with only six matches on the card, you may think that would be the case.

But according to various reports, that may not be the case. Talk within the WWE is that the plan is to have the main matches (particularly the John Cena versus John Lauriniatis match) be longer than average.

WWE Creative also proposed a possible Santino Marella versus Cody Rhodes match for the WWE Over the Limit PPV but was nixed due to a lack of buildup. WWE officials are now targeting the No Way Out PPV on Sunday, June 17 as the likely date for the possible Marella-Rhodes match.

WWE Brand Extension Ending Soon?

17 Apr

The WWE has apparently cancelled the 2012 WWE Draft which was scheduled for Monday, April 23rd due to various WWE officials being unhappy with the current WWE Brand Extension, which was labelled “bland and stale” according to a source in the WWE.

Could RAW and SmackDown be reunited after a 10-year absence?

Ratings for both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown have declined in recent years which resulted in both RAW and SmackDown being Supershows in an effort to get better ratings.

Latest on the 2012 WWE Draft

10 Apr

Expect Monday Night RAW to beef up its roster when the 2012 edition of the WWE Draft commences on RAW on Monday, April 23rd. The feeling in the WWE right now is that ratings for RAW have decreased in the last several months which was one of the reasons why RAW became a Supershow with Superstars from Friday Night SmackDown making regular appearances.

One of the rumored Superstars changing brands is Randy Orton. Ever since Edge abruptly retired due to an injury, the blue brand was in desperate need of a top babyface and Orton fit the bill, or so he thought.

But unfortunately, the Apex Predator hasn’t been able to replace the Rated-R Superstar and was one of the reasons for RAW‘s declining ratings.

Another Superstar who is rumored to be heading to the red brand is Cody Rhodes. There has been some speculation regarding Rhodes’ future on SmackDown considering that the Miz may be heading over to Friday nights in an effort to give SmackDown a top heel.
